How long will it take to trace my family? |
| Generally, 1.5 hours of online research by the Geni-Genealogist will uncover some answers. Family history researching goes from the most recent generation backwards, so any information and documentation you may have will assist greatly. Four – five hours of research should be able to trace two – three generations of one side of the family. |

Do I have to purchase certificates? |
| Occasionally, it is necessary to purchase a copy of the original birth, death or marriage certificate in order to authenticate information from other sources. This is particularly important when you have the names of a married couple but are not sure of their parentage. We can purchase them online for you and the turn around is usually two – three weeks and the cost approximately $30.00. |

How far back can a family be traced? |
| This depends on several factors: i.e. whether the family moved around a lot; were they diligent about recording births, deaths & marriages? Was there a name change? And the accuracy and availability of records. Some parish registers, for example, were not sent to the Central Registry Office. We were able to trace one family back to 1516 in Suffolk, England. |
